October Program - Long Arming
October 30, 2024
9:30 am and 6:30 pm
![]() ![]() Carolyn Stegall and Heidi Rodli will be talking about Long Arming. Ever wonder about long-arm quilting? Ever have questions about the process? Well,November’s speakers will go over everything you ever wanted to know about Long-Arm Quilting. Guild members Heidi Rodli of Piece and Joy Quilting and Carolyn Stegall of Joyful Longarm Quilting Services, have a lot of experience with long-arming, and they’re presenting a program with a question and answer session for us. If you’re already using a long arm, come prepared to learn something new. If you’ve never used a long arm, but have considered buying one, here’s your chance to ask questions about kinds, computer vs no computer, sizes, etc. If you don’t have a long arm and don’t want one, come and find out what you can do before you send your quilt tops off to the long-armer to ensure that your finished quilt is the very best it can be. Learn the difference between edge to edge or custom quilting. Heidi Rodli was born and raised in Dallas, Oregon. She has loved crafting, sewing, and creating since she was young and got hooked on quilting from her first exposure to it in high school. Once upon a time she thought that machine quilting was “cheating” which is ironic now that she makes her living doing just that. She purchased her first longarm in 2007 and has been quilting for others ever since, both locally and for the occasional mail-in client. She’s looking forward to sharing her insights about sending quilts out to a longarmer and answering questions you may have about owning one.
Carolyn Stegall is a Pacific Northwest native, a wife, mom and gramma. Her quilting adventure started back in the 1970’s as she was inspired by Georgia Bonestell. Most of her quilts were tied and a few hand quilted because machine quilting just wasn’t “real” quilting. Fast forward to 2011, she and her granddaughter were making a quilt and she tried her hand at quilting with her domestic machine. Oh, my goodness she thought, there must be a better way and thus began the search for a longarm. She purchased her first longarm in 2012 with a computer and the rest is history. She is excited to share the joy of longarming with all of you. Please submit any questions you may have ahead of time to Heidi at piecejoyquilt@gmail.com or to Carolyn at carolyn72753@aol.com to be sure they have time to thoroughly address your questions.
