June Program - Julia McLeod
June 25, 2025 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Julia will present two programs. Everything but the Cotton Let’s explore the world of quilts that were made with what I call ‘Not Cottons’. When quilters don’t have access to a stash of quilter’s cotton, what do they turn to? This one hour lecture, trunk show and Q & A session shows quilts – antique and modern – made of wool, silk, polyester and more. The trunk show of my own work shows what you can create with neckties, saris, kimonos and other unusual, ‘not cotton’ textiles. The Lone Robin Lecture When the Covid 19 pandemic hit, in-person quilt guild meetings came to a halt. I devised The Lone Robin as a fun project for quilters in the two guilds I belong to. Part mystery quilt, part Round Robin, instructions were given each month and we built our quilts, safely in our own sewing rooms, month by month and round by round. This lecture tells the story of the quilt I made and the varied fabrics and techniques I included. You’ll also see Lone Robin quilts made by members of San Francisco Quilt Guild and East Bay Heritage Quilters, each maker interpreting the directions in their own unique way. |
