BOLT-TO-BED
A Community Service Event

The February 25, 2026 meeting will be Bolt to Bed! For those new to MVQG, Bolt to Bed is a day set aside for making comfort quilts. We start at 9:00am* and stop at 5:00pm. Feel free to come and go throughout the day, at whatever times work best for you.
Bring your sewing machines and quilting supplies. Irons and pressing mats will be provided. We will have many Comfort Quilt Kits available for you to choose from. If you prefer, you can bring your own pattern and fabrics, as long as you are using it for a comfort quilt. If you have a comfort quilt you need to bind, this would be a perfect time to do that. It really is up to you, as long as you are working on a quilt for charity.
One of the options will be a group project where members will work on individual Potato Chip Blocks. We have over 200 block kits ready to go! You can work on as many as you wish or do just one before you start your own project! Once the blocks are turned in, Committee members will square them up and put them on the design walls. Once we have enough for a top they will be sewn together. It is so fun to watch them all come together! Our goal is to make 2 twin size and 5 lap size quilt tops by the end of the day.
If you do not wish to bring your machine, there will be plenty of things to do. You can help press fabric, cut fabric, sew binding, or sew on labels. You can also check to see if any of the sewers need help, like pressing seams and/or blocks, trimming blocks, etc. Consider bringing your rotary cutter and favorite rulers if that is your plan.
If you are interested in making Fidget Quilts, Lura will be bringing her stash of Fidget Quilt items. She will also be available to answer any questions you may have!
Bolt to Bed is a wonderful time to get to know other guild members better. Please come and have a fun day with your quilting friends as we work together to make comfort quilts for the community.
* Please Note: We will be setting up the Meeting Room from 8:00am - 9:00am. Doors will not open until 9:00am. Those arriving early, will be asked to mingle in the lobby. Comfort Quilt Kits will be available in the lobby after 8:30am.
