Philanthropy & Community Service
The Mid-Valley Quilt Guild is committed to supporting both the art of quilting and the communities around us. Through charitable quilt donations, volunteer-led outreach and philanthropic grants, Guild members contribute thousands of hours of creativity and service each year. These efforts help preserve quilting traditions while supporting organizations and individuals throughout Oregon’s Mid-Willamette Valley.
The Mid-Valley Quilt Guild’s philanthropy efforts reflect our mission:
“To preserve the quilting heritage for future generations by promoting the art of quilting, sharing knowledge and accomplishments, inspiring creative excellence, encouraging fellowship and service to our community.”
Community Philanthropy Grants
Since 2010, the Mid-Valley Quilt Guild has offered philanthropic grants supporting community organizations and projects that align with the Guild’s mission of education, creativity, preservation, and community service through quilting and the arts.
Grant funding may support educational programming, artistic initiatives, community enrichment or quilting-related outreach efforts. Organizations are encouraged to apply regardless of non-profit status if their work aligns with the Guild mission.

Our 2026 Grant Applications must be received no later than April 15, 2026.

After reviewing the grant applications, the Mid-Valley Quilt Guild will award grants in June 2026. All applicants will be notified of the status of their application by June 30, 2026.

The Mid-Valley Quilt Guild asks grant applicants to provide a description of their proposed project or activity for requested funds including a budget and an estimated timeline.
Questions on the application include:
How will your group/activity promote the art of quilting?
How will your group/activity share knowledge and accomplishments?
How will your group/activity inspire creativity?
How will your group/activity encourage fellowship?
How does your group/activity serve the community?
Grant Recipients must provide a written report to the Mid-Valley Quilt Guild within 1 year of receiving their grant funds.

Interested organizations and groups do not need to be a designated 501(c)(3) organization to apply for the Mid-Valley Quilt Guild’s Philanthropy Grants.

Member Service Efforts
One of the most meaningful ways our members give back is through quilting. Throughout the year, Mid-Valley Quilt Guild members donate their time, talent, and handmade creations to support individuals and families across our community. From comfort quilts and pillowcases to fidget quilts and receiving blankets, every stitch is made with care and compassion. Explore a few opportunities to learn how you can get involved and make a lasting impact through the Guild's service efforts.

One community service supported by the Mid-Valley Quilt Guild is the creation and distribution of Comfort Quilts to various agencies and institutions throughout the Willamette Valley. Traditionally, Guild Members contribute a Comfort Quilt in the month of their birthday. Many Guild Members contribute additional quilts throughout the year as well.

Bolt-To-Bed is a special day-long quilting party that takes place twice a year, one in lieu of the usual Member Meeting and the other on a Saturday to accommodate working members. Many attendees begin their quilt contribution using one of the kits available, both at Bolt To Bed and all year long. We strongly urge all members to make and donate at least one quilt a year for charitable contribution. We give to a number of non-profit groups and are always open to new suggestions.

Fidget quilts are small sensory quilts made with interactive textures and objects like ribbons, zippers, buttons, pockets, and soft fabrics. They are designed to help soothe and engage individuals experiencing dementia, Alzheimer’s, anxiety, or sensory-processing challenges.
The Mid-Valley Quilt Guild donates handmade fidget quilts to local hospice programs, care facilities, and community organizations throughout the Willamette Valley to provide comfort, stimulation, and support for those in need.

Handmade receiving blankets are one of the many ways Guild members share comfort and compassion with local families. These blankets provide warmth and and security for newborns and infants during important early moments of life.
Our Impact
Through the generosity of Mid-Valley Quilt Guild members, hundreds of handmade items are created and distributed each year to organizations throughout Oregon’s Willamette Valley and beyond.
